Free daily puzzles like NYT Games

Gamefinity's once-a-day puzzles, quizzes and crowd games, sorted into a morning routine for people who already play the NYT set.

Exactly cover art: Six number cards, 25, 50, 75, 100, 3 and 6, with red, blue, yellow and green sign blocks on a classroom desk.Daily IQ cover art: A 1960s aptitude test booklet open on a 3×3 pattern matrix with one empty square, a pencil and a chrome stopwatch beside it.Fold cover art: A square of indigo wave-print origami paper, one corner curling over to show its vermilion back, inside a dotted outline.Dig Site cover art: A string grid pegged over a desert dig, trenches from cool blue to hot red, a golden amulet surfacing in the hottest one.

Most NYT puzzles come once a day, the same for every player, and that shared day is half their appeal. Gamefinity's Daily Games work the same way, and a handful of them sit well beside the NYT puzzles you already play. This page sorts them by the kind of thinking they ask for, so you can choose three or four and keep the whole routine to a few minutes.

What daily means on Gamefinity

Each Daily Game hands every player the same rounds for that day. Each allows one play a day per account and per device, so every result is a first attempt, and the whole set turns over at midnight in New York, 9 pm in California.

That clock is not the NYT one. Wordle, Connections, Strands and Pips change at midnight in your own time zone, Spelling Bee and Letter Boxed at 3 a.m. Eastern, and the Crossword, the Mini and Sudoku go live the evening before. Outside Eastern Time, the two sets of puzzles roll over at different hours.

Puzzles with one right answer

Daily set of three, easy to hard

Exactly

Three sums a day, from an easy two-digit target to a hard three-digit one. It is the nearest Gamefinity has to a graded trio of NYT-style puzzles, with numbers in place of letters or squares.

Daily logic puzzles

Daily IQ

Ten short reasoning puzzles, each proven by a solver to have exactly one answer. It fills the logic slot of a morning set in about a minute and a half.

Fold

Five sheets of origami paper a day: fold each one until it matches the shape on a card, in as few folds as par. The first sheet teaches the idea, and by the fifth the order of the folds matters.

Dig Site

A find buried in a 12×12 grid and six digs to reach it. Each trench says how far away it lies and whether it is in line with you, so careful reasoning turns up as many finds as possible before sundown, two minutes in.

Common Ground

Ten quick prompts, then your answers next to a stranger's. There is nothing to get right, which makes it a light last stop after the harder puzzles.

Domino Day, and why it is not Pips

Pips players may see dominoes and expect a match. There is none on Gamefinity: no game asks you to place dominoes so that colored regions meet their sums and conditions.

Domino Day

It uses dominoes and deals five rooms a day, breakfast to bedtime, but it is a physics chain reaction, not a logic puzzle. You drag a few red dominoes into the gaps of a room, press GO and watch the chain run to a desk bell.

No daily five-letter word

One gap is worth knowing before you build a set: Gamefinity has no daily five-letter word game, so nothing takes Wordle's seat in a once-a-day lineup. Wordlock plays with the same kind of color clues but is unlimited, word after word against a clock, which suits a spare ten minutes better than a morning routine.

The Daily: three games, one attempt

If you would rather not choose, The Daily on Gamefinity is a ready-made set of three games. Every player gets the same levels and a single attempt at all three, played one after another, and the points are added up on that day's leaderboard. A new one starts at midnight Eastern Time, and it closes at 11:58 PM ET.

Questions

Can I play a day I missed?

For some games, yes. Daily IQ keeps past tests and Daily Trivia keeps recent editions in an archive. An old Daily Trivia edition is just for fun: it counts toward neither a streak nor the day's leaderboard.

Do Gamefinity's daily games change at the same time as Wordle?

Only if you live in Eastern Time. Gamefinity's Daily Games all change at midnight in New York, while Wordle changes at midnight wherever you happen to be.
